Kansas City – A local eatery and nightspot has closed due to an outbreak of food poisoning and concerns from the Health Department.

The KC Juke House on 18th Street in the Jazz District was closed yesterday and remains closed today; a notice on the door indicates they do not have a time line to reopen.

In response to questions, a manager there (who did not wish to be identified) stated that the entire staff, save one person, had come down with food poisoning and left the business unable to open. This drew the interest of the Kansas City Health Department, who performed an inspection and ordered the restaurant and bar closed until further notice.

Health Department officials acknowledged that the food poisoning outbreak was extremely unusual and was not necessarily connected to the department’s inspection; test results are pending from that inspection.
