(August 1, 2017) KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Police responded to the University of Missouri, Kansas City today following reports of a student wielding a knife.
Police arrested 22-year-old Jacob Roberts and transported him to Kansas City Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained during his attack and arrest.
Sources close to the police say Roberts was incoherent, ranting, and possibly psychotic. His attack injured himself and 6 others, who were either treated at the scene and refused further treatment or were transported to the same hospital for treatment.
Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, police are not issuing a formal statement. Sources close to the investigation say Roberts will be committed to the Kansas City Institute for the Mentally Unstable for observation.
